Sholokhov Center

Sholokhov-Center of the Sholokhov’s Museum-Reserve. It is a platform for holding large exhibition and cultural and educational projects in the Southern Federal District.

It is located in the city of Rostov-on-Don in an old mansion - the House of the Martyn brothers, built by the architect N.M. Sokolov in 1893 in the center of the former fortress of St. Demetrius of Rostov (1761-1835) - an important part of the historic territory of Rostov. The building is a bright landmark of the city, a magnificent monument of the late nineteenth century, representing historical and architectural value.

Before the October Revolution, the family was owned by the family of I.R. Martyn - a British subject, the founder of the firm "John Martyn and Co.". In 1920 the building was nationalized, during its operation there were significant losses, the premises were re-planned, the details of the decoration were destroyed.

In 2007, the mansion, which was in an emergency condition, was transferred to the MA Museum-Reserve. Sholokhov, in the years 2008-2014. carried out its restoration and returned its historical appearance.

There are lectures, museum classes, creative meetings, themed evenings in the multimedia hall.
